Majors and minor courses?
Do you have an academic advisor? Usually, when you apply to a university/college and are admitted, they have an orientation program where you are igned to an advisor in your department and you talk to them about your major and what cles you are required to take. You should see your advisor on a regular basis. She/he should give you some papers that detail your major and what specific cles are required to take. A major is the main area of your academic studies. A minor can be an area in another department that doesn't necessarily relate to your major. You're not required to take as many credits/cles as the major but it can give you an advantage in applying for a job. The minor is noted on your academic transcript so no, you don't get a degree "paper" like you do for your major. When you become an upperclmen, you go to your advisor, and tell them you want to declare your major. You'll sign papers where you officially declare your major and minor. Your intended major doesn't become official until you sign those papers.
