Travelling to Beirut from London - is it cheaper to go through Cyprus?

I am planning a holiday to Beirut later this summer. I am travelling from London. Of course, there are direct flights. But I just wondered if anyone knows whether significant savings can be made by flying to Cyprus and then getting a ferry or something over to Lebanon. (I'm also thinking that if the political situation in Lebanon were to deteriorate again, at least I could have a holiday in Cyprus and not lose my money.)
