Are Seattle suburbs (Edmonds, east side, etc.) or Olympia better suited for a retired couple?

I think Edmonds is an excellent fit for retired people. I live in Edmonds and it has a lot of retired people (most of my condo complex is retired). It is a really great area that is quiet and friendly, offering great amenities from shopping, dining, and activities all within a really close proximity to Edmonds proper. Although I'd kind of like to see more younger people in Edmonds, I love the fact that it is an area that is full of more families and retired people which seems to keep it quieter, safer, and more relaxed-feeling. I think you would feel very much at home, but be sure to spend a little time around any of the neighborhoods to see if you do truly get a good feeling from the area you might potentially live in.
