Which car is the most cost effective as a first car?

I have a 02 Grand Prix GT V6 and I love it. Its a reliable car. My model year comes in coupe or sedan, The gas isnt the best but its better than a truck. I can get about 18 or 19 mpg in city and 27 or 28 highway. The cars with a 4 cylinder engine will give u better gas mileage than the cars with a 6 cylinder (V6) engine. As for insurance, any car u get will be high because your a teenager. At least $200 or more for the first year or so. I know from experience that the Monte carlo insurance will be high becuz its considered a sports car. My car (Grand Prix) insurance is $198 per month. But your insurance will be based on your driving record and which ever car u get. Sports cars will always have higher insurance than regular cars. So my pick would obviously be the Pontiac Grand Prix GT or GTP (97-03) model. Good Luck in your search.
